NAfro’s 2026 Season
Winnipeg, are you ready? WIKA returns with an electrifying double bill that celebrates the brilliance, depth, and innovation of African and culturally diverse dance.
Curated and presented by NAfro Dance, WIKA is a performance series dedicated to showcasing exceptional dance companies from across the Canadian African diaspora. Each edition brings one outstanding guest company to Winnipeg, paired with a fresh offering from NAfro Dance.
This year, NAfro Dance proudly welcomes Nyata Nyata, the legendary Montreal based company who comes to Winnipeg with its newest creation: “Mover(s)/Zungana”. In this work by choreographer Zab Maboungou, the body/gesture draws forth a profound musicality, whose resonance gives rise to a genuine orchestration of movement and words rhythmically marking space.
The evening also presents the NAfro Dance company premiering two dance works - one by Paula Blair and the other by GeNie Baffoe.
If you love dance, or simply witnessing extraordinary talent, WIKA 2026 is a must see event.
NAfro offers open classes for people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels — from beginners to professionals.
Experience the sounds, rhythm and movements of Africa in a welcoming, non-competitive environment.
